This recent residential project is a perfect example of how teamwork, innovation, and expertise can save homeowners from costly repairs while delivering lasting results.
The Challenge
Severe inward wall movement. Carbon fiber straps had already been installed but the correct repair should have been steel column wall reinforcement.
A homeowner began noticing signs of potential foundation and basement issues and contacted DLM Engineering for a professional inspection. During the evaluation, the engineer identified several areas of concern throughout the basement.
In the northeast corner of the basement, a noticeable gap had formed between the carpet and the base molding. The engineer suspected this separation was the result of foundation settlement causing the floor and foundation to shift over time.
Additional concerns were discovered along the front wall of the home. The southeast corner exhibited moderate to severe inward wall movement, while the unfinished middle section of the front wall showed minor inward movement accompanied by joint cracking. These signs indicated that both foundation settlement and wall instability needed to be addressed before further damage occurred.
The Solution
After performing a detailed inspection, B-Level worked closely with DLM Engineering to develop a customized repair plan tailored to the home’s specific needs.
One of the biggest advantages of this collaboration was the ability to provide an alternative to a full excavation of the front foundation wall. By utilizing specialized foundation repair techniques, B-Level was able to help the homeowner avoid a major and costly excavation project while still achieving the necessary structural support and stabilization.
The engineer-approved repair plan included a combination of:
- Helical piers to stabilize and support the settling foundation
- Static wall beams to provide immediate structural reinforcement
- Spring-loaded wall beams to allow gradual correction and continued stabilization
- Concrete lifting and leveling to restore the basement floor elevation
This comprehensive approach addressed every issue identified during the inspection while minimizing disruption to the homeowner.
The Results

This project showcased all three core services that B-Level provides: foundation stabilization, wall reinforcement, and concrete lifting and leveling.
To stabilize the settling foundation, eight helical piers were installed along the northeast wall. These piers transferred the home’s load to more stable soils below the surface, preventing any further settlement.
To address the inward wall movement, two static beams and six spring-loaded beams were installed along the south wall. Together, these systems provided the support necessary to prevent additional movement while helping maintain the wall’s structural integrity over time.

Finally, the concrete basement floor slab in the northeast corner was lifted and leveled. This corrected the uneven floor elevation and restored consistent spacing between the trim and flooring throughout the basement.
